Who Shall Be a Priest for Us? (Exodus 19:04-06)

Don Johnson, June 4, 2017

Part of the Communion series, preached at a Sun PM service

God's purpose in redeeming Israel was to put the nation in a special relationship with him as a nation of priests - intermediaries between God and man - for the blessing of the nations. Israel largely failed at keeping this covenant, until the One True Israelite arrived on the scene and became the mediator between God and man.

Exodus 19:4-6

You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles' wings and brought you to myself. Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine; and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words that you shall speak to the people of Israel.” (ESV)
