The Word of God has Not Failed (Romans 9:6)
Don Johnson, July 15, 2012
Part of the Romans series, preached at a Sun AM service
As we begin to look at Paul's answer to the objection of Israelites that the gospel causes God's promises to fail, we realize the objection is rooted in a faulty view of what the privileges of the Old Testament mean. Judaism assumed a kind of 'genetic justification' where a man was considered a child of God simply by being born a Jew. The error of Judaism ought to give pause to anyone who thinks their birth in a Christian nation or home, or even their birth in a 'moral' society makes them right with God. All men are sinners who cannot save themselves. We need Christ, and Christ alone, for our salvation.
